Learning to sound out words

We are learning to sound out words by using blocks to represent the sounds we hear. Knowing how to sound out words will help us with our spelling.

Some of us used Elkonin Boxes to help us. We learnt that digraphs are made up of two letters but they make only one sound, e.g. sh in the word dish, ch in chicken, ph in phone and th in that. We were excited to find out that these digraphs were in our friends' names, e.g. Charlie, Shivani, Shreya, Arth and Devashree.
