Experiments to help us understand

This week we have been learning about the moon. We learnt that four moons side by side would be the same width as the earth! Marcus told us that the first people to walk on the moon were Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin. They travelled to the moon in a spaceship called Saturn 5. We found out that only 12 people have ever walked on the moon, all of them before our teachers were born!

Mrs Edwards has been helping us understand what the surface of the moon looks like. She dropped a marble into some flour so we can see what happens. She explained that the marble is like a meteor hitting the surface of the moon and leaving a crater.

We got to make a moon picture or a model of the sun, earth and moon.

These models are helping us understand how the earth rotates while orbiting the sun. Our moon also orbits earth.
