Edible cars

One of the highlights of our last day of Term 3 was making edible cars from a slice of apple and grapes.

We had a little play with our cars before we put them in the 'garage!'

We thought it would be funny to tell our parents that we ate a car!

Sweet treats for the teachers

Thank you Harry for sharing a sweet treat with the teachers today. Xxx

-Athon prizes

We had a great -Athon prize giving this afternoon. Mr Limbrick said that he was excited because we raised just over $15 000 this year!

Our assembly started off with children performing 'E rere taku poi.'

Mrs Hope-Ede did our prize draw.

Special mention was made of Kaylah who raised $350.

Best illustrations

These two girls did the best poem illustrations today!

Sight Words champions

We have many clever children today who
knew all their Sight Words! Enjoy your special treat today!

Safe from Harm presentations

This term each class in the junior school created a road safety jingle and a matching t-shirt to spread the message to our parents and wider communities.

We watched all the jingles this morning and loved seeing all the great t-shirt designs!

Here are some photos of the presentations we saw.

Naked classroom

Look! We took down our displays today and Kate has described our room as looking naked!

Lots of news

Our news box was overflowing so we spent a whole block listening to each other's news!

Holiday homework

We are sending home a bag of books to read during the holidays as well as an adding game. Please return the books after the break.

Cleaning

After we did our Math today we spent time scrubbing our chairs. We loved cleaning and we are glad that our chairs look so much better.

King and Queen of ing

We are kings and queens of /ing/ today. We thought about words that have an /ing/ sound in it, like singing, eating, and swimming.

We made crowns and wrote some /ing/ words on the band.

Can you guess who these little kings and queens are?

Balloon cars

It was such fun to make balloon powered cars this afternoon! We used pipe cleaners, a straw, bottle caps, a piece of cardboard, a balloon and plenty of tape.

We had to concentrate so hard at threading all the parts together and taping things down properly. It took us two blocks to finish it all!

When we were done, the hard part was trying to blow up the balloon!

We might need your help for that!

If you can help the children to improve the design of their car or make a better one during the holidays it would be great.

A bit upset

While on our morning run today we noticed some older students who didn't use the pedestrian crossing to cross the road. That made us quite upset. We realised that we can take the responsibility to remind older children to be safe! We wrote an email telling students to always use the crossing. Our teacher sent it to all the staff so that it could be read to each class.

After we wrote our email we each wrote our own little story.

We like to read our stories to our friends! They always say, "Well done!"

Language of size

We thought of words to describe a giant's footprint.

We drew around our foot and wrote a sentence comparing it to the footprint size of an animal.

Cup game

For PE this afternoon we played the cup game.

100 points

Look who reached 100 dojo points today!

Spelling activity

We practiced spelling words that started with /br/.

Today's funny story

Volcano in Our Classroom

Ms James brought in some vinegar, baking soda, pink food colouring and a "volcano" structure. Her assistant, helped her to put in the "ingredients" into the volcano.

Can you guess what happened when he poured in the vinegar? Yes, the volcano exploded with over flowing pink lava.

We created a few other explosions.

Can you see the lava bubbling?

Later, we recorded our experiment. What happened before and after.
