Highlights

During Room 21's final sharing circle for the year we each said one highlight for the year, and one thing we would be doing in the holidays.

Josh - I liked having Miss Bland for my teacher.
Lucas B - I liked getting better at Reading.
Marcus - I liked having my 'office'.
Lola - I liked learning how to write.

Vansh - In the holidays I'm going ice skating.
Ethan - In the holidays I'm going to play with my sister at my new house.
Lucy - I'm going to miss Miss Bland.

Hub Prizegiving

All of us are unique and special. We all shine at something. Our teachers wanted us to leave school this year feeling proud of who we are and what we are good at, so each of us were presented with a certificate at our Hub prizegiving.

If Santa got stuck in my chimney...

... I would push Santa in a house and get some presents. Darius

... I would get my friends and we would pull him out. Lucy

... he can't get out of the chimney. Marcus

... I would pull and pull, and pop he goes. Lola

... I would get my brothers and dad and mum and pull him out. Josh

Room 21's final week together

Room 21 had a fun last week together making lots of crafts and playing games.

We worked together to play Jingle Bells using bells!

During our last music session with Mrs Sadgrove we played the bells, she told us the reason why we have a holiday at Christmas.

We enjoyed the Hub shared lunch!

We made a jingle stick using mini jingle bells, a pipe cleaner and a chop stick, ...

... made cards ...

... and some decorations.

Here we are playing a guessing game with the other Miss Bland!

We cleaned our classroom, ...

... had played our favourite game, 'Doggy  doggy who's got the bone?'

A Christmas Carol

Room 21 are learning about some of the traditions of Christmas. This morning they watched an interpretataion one of the most famous of all Christmas stories, A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens.

We thought that the story means that we should think of others, especially at Christmas time. We also discussed what made Ebeneezer Scrooge change his mind about Christmas.

Opportunity to give

Room 12 are thinking of those less fortunate than themselves this Christmas, and offering your family the opportunity to teach your child/ren to help others by donating a can of food. All donations will be delivered to Lifewise Services in New Lynn to distribute to the homeless and families in need this festive season.

Illustrators

This was how Shivani defined the word illustrator...

Our class had some amazing illustrators for our poem. Liam, Zina and Fleur explained their drawings to us. Fleur even included labels for her drawing.

It's our turn to read to the class

Ms Tan used to read to us after SSR (Sustained  Silent Reading) but now we take turns to read a book to our classmates. We learnt that we have to project our voices when we read so that our friends can hear us and we also need to read at a good pace so that they can understand and enjoy the story. Here are our readers for this week.

Winners

A special visitor from Glover Real Estate came to our class yesterday. Grace and Ryan won the Glover Real Estate Annual Colouring Competition. There were 5000 entries and they did exceptionally well. Grace won the first prize and Ryan the merit prize. Congratulations Grace and Ryan! We are very proud of you!

Decorations

This afternoon Room 21 children made some oversized decorations using recycled cardboard and scraps of wool.

Elf on the Shelf

This week we have had lots of fun learning how some families make Christmas memorable by using elves. Kalais was telling us that in his family they have an elf called Sparkle who does crazy antics during the night when everyone is asleep!

We found some videos of naughty elves who do some very crazy things! Watch this three part story to see how naughty they are!
