Our Stories

Some of us are authors of our own books. We choose our own titles, wrote our stories and illustrated them.

Tinikling practice

During our tinikling practice with Del, we practiced the right sitting and hand positions. If we don't sit right or hold the bamboo correctly our fingers and knees get bumped.

Publishing little books

Miss Bland's Writing group finished their books today by adding a front and back cover.

Best Illustrations

These children created the best poem illustrations today.

Sight Word Champions

Here are the children who learnt all their Sight Words this week.

Crafty ideas

During our wet morning tea time some of us made some very cool crafts.

Samoan experience

We were invited to join Room 16 to learn a Samoan song and dance.

Ka pai to our friends who volunteered to go to the front to lead the 2 classes.

A tough day

We had a tough afternoon. We couldn't go swimming because we had to clean up the mess we left in the locker room. It took us so long. By the time we reached the pool and changed, the next class had arrived. We felt disappointed, and we think that we will take better care to pack our things next week.

Mufti day notice

Parents, your child was given the following notice to take home today.

Where we come from

We come from many different places around the world. Today we took turns looking at a globe and finding the countries we come from.

Drafting a Handout for our Sale

This morning we drafted the handout for our Sale of Used Toys and Books to raise money for baby Holly-Rose.

We each coloured a poster and made it look attractive.

Graphing

We cut out pictures of some different kinds of puppets and made a bar graph. We also learnt how to record a tally.

Te Kura Arahoe

We watched a video of some senior students performing our school song with actions. We will try and learn them in the next week.

Publishing

Miss Bland's Writing group are in the process of writing a book about their place in the world. Today they published a page. Here is a lovely example of excellent work by Liam.

The boy who cried wolf

We watch the story of 'The boy who cried wolf' performed by puppets!

If you'd like to see it too, click the 'Story' page on our blog.

Making a sentence

Today we learnt what a 'smock' is. We also made a sentence with the word in it.

What's this?

Several children were intrigued by this today...

It is the flower bud of the nikau palm.

Family Night

Family Night was entertaining.

The Kapa haka group opened the evening. Bella and Mia did well to remember their parts.

Lots of families sat on the bank to watch the performances.

The school band, Jam Attack, performed.

The audience loved the partner dancing.

The Christmas Choir sang 'Boogie Woogie Christmas'.

Santa arrived with his helper, Miss O'Connell!

"Merry Christmas everyone!  Ho, ho, ho!"

Tuesday Update

During the first block we visited Mrs Sadgrove. We practiced singing some Christmas songs for Family Night.

In Reading time we wrote a story, then did a spelling worksheet.

Some of us practiced tracing pictures.

After lunch two groups practiced subtraction with the teachers. The rest of us played Math games on the iPads or used the computers.

Finally, some children made their family of puppets while others put on puppet shows for their friends.
