Poem

Here is the poem that most children studied this week...

How sound travels

Sounds produce waves. We saw that soft, gentle sounds make small waves like this...

Medium level sounds produce sound waves that look like this...

Loud sounds make big sound waves like this...

We made some 'sound waves' using pipe cleaners.

Learning about our ears

Room 21 children found out that sounds travel from our ears to our brain! Here are the main things we learnt from some videos we watched today:

Sight Words Champions

These children knew all their Sight Words today. Congratulations on your hard work!

Assembly Awards.

Congratulations to Vansh and Micah for recieving the Room 21 and 22 class awards at assembly this week.

Well done to Fleur, Sione, Grace, Maddisyn, Blake and Kalais who also recieved certificates for getting a placing in cross country this year.

Recognising quickly

We are learning to recognise nbers shown in our fingers as fast as possible. What's this number?

 This one?

/ear/ sound in words

Room 21 brainstormed words with the 'ear' sound. Here are the words they thought of...

Room 22 Talent Quest Auditions

Today Room 22 selected some students from our class to put forward for the Arahoes Got Talent auditions. Well done to all the students who performed in front of our class and good luck to Fleur and Devashree who will be auditioning for the competition.

Trying out new ideas

We were excited because we did painting today! The catch was that we couldn't paint with brushes and we could only choose one colour plus white. We found lots of different ways to apply paint - sponges, wool, cardboard tabs, rubber bands, and knives.

The most interesting paintings look like this...

Room 21 visits the Music Room

Because Room 21 have started their second year of school the class can now visit Mrs Sadgrove for Music. Today Mrs Sadgrove listened and watched the performances of Room 21 students who are auditioning for Arahoe's Got Talent. She was able to give students some tips on how to improve their performances.

Performing for an audience

Room 21 has some great Arahoe's Got Talent hopefuls! This morning we were a good audience and listened to Ethan sing, watched Josh tap dance, Blake, Lucas B and Lucas B break dance, and saw Jiya's Indian dance moves!

Ears

Our ears are not just on the sides of our head. They go inside our head too! Ears are made up if three parts:

We watched a video that explained how ears work.

Sounds with /ai/

Room 21 did a brainstorm of words with the /ai/ sound.

Writing about planets

In Writing today some of us wrote poems about the planet we painted last week. We thought about what we would see, hear, feel, smell and taste on that planet.

Afterwards we read our poems to friends and they offered us some feedback about our work.

Request for Stationery

Hello parents,
Many children have finished their scrapbooks and Writing books. It would be appreciated if you would send along two new scrapbooks and two 2PP Writing books as soon as you can. Thank you.

Transformers

We enjoy using K-nex to build different types of transformers.

Making our own addition problems

Each of us were given a set of paw prints with numbers 1-20 printed on them. We made our own addition problems and solved them. We did this activity differently.

Using fingers in Math

In Math, some children practiced making numbers quickly using their fingers. We watched an online die and when it stopped rolling, we made the number it showed quickly. Making numbers on our hands quickly will help us with our adding skills.

In another game, two students made numbers using their fingers and the third person had to add the numbers together as fast as possible.
