The silly season

Christmas is the silly season.  We like that!  Here we are looking naughty and nice!

Class Party

To celebrate the end of our year together we had a shared lunch!  Everyone bought a plate of food and we shared it out.  There was lots of yummy food.  We got to eat our lunch outside which was a treat.

Ara Teina Assembly - Week 9

We had our final Ara Teina (Junior School) Assembly and a guest from the SPCA came to talk to us.  He said that we must remember to take care of our pets during the holidays.  He told us that some animals may not have owners and we need to care for them carefully too.

Here is our student of the week.  She won the award for always being eager to participate in class discussions.  Well done!

Prizegiving

Two students from our class received recognition at our school prizegiving.

This is one of the best artists in the Junior School!  Here he is showing his medal.

This student won the class award for accademic achievement, effort, positive attitude
and perseverence during the year.

Congratulations E and A!

Making Wreaths

To celebrate Christmas we made some wreaths out of paper plates.  We decorated them with colourful cut out shapes.  Now they are ready to hang on our door at home!

What's the animal?

We lay down on the floor and relaxed while listening to some famous classical music.  We had to guess what animal the music was about.

When the music ended we made a list of the creatures we thought the music was about.
We thought it was about a.... mouse, snake, spider, giraffe, monster, lion, rabbit...

The music was actually about a bumblebee!  (One clever boy guessed right!)

We listened to 'The Flight of the Bumblebee' by Rimsky-Korsakov again
and tried to imagine what the bee was doing.

Later on we also listened to part of Saint-SaĆ«ns' 'Carnival of the Animals'
and imagined what the lions and tortoise were doing.

Tasting peas

Yummy!  Our teacher bought some freshly picked peas from her garden for us to try.  They were so fresh and crunchy.  We opened the seed pods up to see the little peas inside.

Counting the days 'til Christmas

We're counting the days until Christmas!  Every day this month we have been opening a little door on our calendar which reveals a decoration to go on our pop-up Christmas tree!

W is for watermelon

To learn and practice the sound that letter 'w' makes we made some watermelons using paper plates and coloured tissue paper.  We glued 'seeds' on top.
