Road Safety

Constable Carl visited us this morning and we learnt how to cross at the crossing safely. He taught us that we need to look both ways before we cross.

We watched two road patrollers set up the lollipop signs at the school crossing.

If the school patrol stop sign is out we cannot cross.

The road patrollers wait until the traffic passes before putting the signs out.

When we cross the street we continue to look both ways.

Look left and right.

A rubbish truck came by and we watched it collecting the rubbish.

Our road patrollers are taking the signs back to school.

If there are no road patrollers on duty we can still cross the road, but we need to be extra careful to look and listen before crossing. It is always safer to cross with an adult.

This is what we learnt today:

Corin - I learnt that we need to look both ways before crossing the street.

Charlotte - I learnt that we should hold an adult's hand while crossing the street.

Kaylah - I learnt that we must listen for cars when crossing the road.

Kerisha - I learnt how to understand the hand signs of the road patrollers.
