Our Korowai

Maori people have always been very clever at recycling! In the old days if a Maori person found a dead bird, such as a kiwi, they would pluck out the feathers and use them as decorations!  Sometimes feathers were used in special cloaks called korowai.

Room 20 has been helping us to colour some paper feathers and after we cut them out our teachers painted them with dye and glued them onto a piece of cloth to make a lovely korowai for us to share. Isn't it beautiful?
