Making a porotiti

To celebrate Matariki made a Maori instrument called a porotiti 

using a recycled plastic lid and string.

First we had to hammer two holes in the lid then we decorated both sides of it. 

Next we threaded string through the holes and tied them up. 

Finally, we had loads of fun playing with them in the classroom and outside as well.
