Reading on Tuesday

The children enjoyed singing the poem today. Some children were excited because they recognized the tune from Kindy days!

Shreya realised that the words 'yum' and 'tum' rhyme.

Our Big Book was very interesting for us. It is called "Quiet in the Library." We talked about speech marks and that they tell us someone is speaking. We also talked about the exclamation mark and how we use it to show surprise.

In the Big Book, some children are trying to listen to a story in the library but they are interrupted by noisy animals. They children tell the animals, "Shhhh! Quiet in the library!"

There is a humorous twist at the end of the book which many of us found quite funny... Even though the children were in a library, they clapped and cheered when their story was over. The animals then told them, "Shhhh! Quiet in the library!"

Because Ms Bland and Ms Vanga are testing Room 21 children this week, they didn't have their usual guided Reading session today. All children in Room 21 were given a reader to take home to read with someone at home.

One of our friends in Room 22 made an interesting observation in her reader. She saw the word 'Miss' written with a capital m, and the word 'miss' with a lower case m. She worked out that 'Miss' is for the name of someone, and 'miss' means we are thinking about someone.

Another friend spotted the word 'into' in her reader, and realised that they were two little words joined together!
