Norooz

Our friend is Iranian. She is celebrating Norooz, the Persian New Year, this Saturday. Each Norooz, Iranians around the world decorate special tables called 'haft-seen' tables. 'Seen' is one of the letters in the Farsi alphabet. The equivalent is 's' in English. Items beginning with 'seen' are displayed on the haft-seen table, each representing a wish for the new year.

Our friend's parents set up a haft-seen table in Room 21. It was interesting to hear the names of the objects in Farsi.

"Eid shomam moborak!" to all our Iranian friends!
