Shake Out Earthquake Drill

We joined many other New Zealanders who practiced earthquake survival skills today. Blake told us that an earthquake is caused by the movement of huge underground plates. New Zealand is situated where two of these tectonic plates meet and that's why we get many earthquakes here.

In an earthquake we must stop, cover our head (to protect it from falling debri), hide under a table and hold on to the leg of the table until the shaking is finished. If we know that somebody is blind or is injured we should help them get to a safe place too.

Here are some of us practicing to 'cover and hold.'
