Making fish from harakeke (flax)

This term we have been learning how important flax is to Maori.  We have seen ketes and mats made from flax and now we have seen flowers and fish made from it too!  Our teacher showed us how to cut the flax and make strips about 2cm wide and 30cm long so that she could make some fish for us.  It was hard for us to make the fish ourselves.  We helped to do the first 1 or 2 steps then our teacher finished off the rest for us!  It was so fun to play with our fishing lines.
